Joseph's Dream

Luke 1:28  And having come in, the Angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”

The Holy Spirit of God spoke to Mary through the Angel, Gabriel. The Holy Spirit of God spoke to Joseph in Dreams.

But when she saw Him, she was troubled at His saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the Angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” Then Mary said to the Angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” And the Angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.” (Luke 1:29-38)

The exchange between Mary and the Angel, Gabriel, was quite a conversation. Mary was about fourteen years old at the time, and yet she recognised the Angel of the Lord. At first, she was afraid, but Gabriel assured her there was nothing for her to fear.

Gabriel told her she had been chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah. She questioned Him because she was a virgin, but when He explained to her how it would come about, she fully accepted her calling in life. God would do the impossible in the life of Mary.

Mary, at the young age of fourteen, had the faith to believe that God was able to do the impossible. Without faith, none of this would have happened. However, because of her great faith, Mary responded to Gabriel and said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the Angel departed from her.

She had been chosen for an assignment unlike any other in history. God would use this young girl to bring forth His Son, who would be the Perfect Lamb of God and the Savior of the world.

God had a Plan for Mary, and He told her of that Plan through the words of Gabriel. The Holy Spirit has always spoken to people, and He still does today. His Words are powerful and true. His direction is distinct and clear. He will do what He says He will do. He never breaks a Promise.

God has a distinct Plan for your life. He has gifted you and equipped you for this Plan and Purpose. It takes great faith to hear the Lord and accept His Plan for our lives. It’s not easy. We will be ridiculed and made fun of, but in the end, we will be rewarded if we hold fast to Him and place our faith in His Word.

God can do the impossible! He can……..turn the tide

Holding fast in faith,      Doreen
