Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Today we discuss the Believer’s Benefit of Kinship. As born again believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we become children of God, and if children, then heirs. Heirs of what? heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, WOW! If that’s not a Benefit, I don’t know what is! ! !
This means that we are no longer our old self. The Apostle Paul calls us to put off the old self and take on the new. This does not mean to stop caring for your earthly parents and family, but it does mean we have the right to call God Almighty, Father.
Millions of children today grow up in a constant state of fear due to their home environment. Before being born again, we are such children. Everything in the world scares us. The bondage of fear is like heavy chains draped on our shoulders. We have no one to turn to who can really help us.
But then, when we accept Christ and understand our new identity in Christ; that we have been adopted into the Family of God and are joint heirs with Christ, that spirit of fear must leave because we now have Almighty God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth as our Father and He can do anything!
I would venture to say that many Believers have no idea of what they really have as a Child of God. To truly understand your identity in Christ ………………
will totally…….turn the tide…...in your life.
