Matthew 9:38 Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest.
Jesus traveled from city to city and village to village teaching the people. He preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, Healed every illness and disease, and cast out demons from people. This was His Ministry everywhere He went. As He taught and touched people, they were Saved, Healed, and Delivered.
Jesus compared people to sheep. The lost people were lost sheep that were stricken with sin, sickness, and demonic spirits. Nothing has changed. The world is full of people like this today.
In the 9th Chapter of Matthew, we read that Jesus had great compassion for all the people because He could see the torment they were in. They were lost sheep in desperate need of a Shepherd. He was the Great Shepherd.
Jesus also instructed His Disciples to continue His Work and go out into the world and teach them the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. The commission He gave them still stands today for all of us. There is a great multitude of people waiting for believers to share the Gospel with them. Jesus called this the Great Harvest of Souls.
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His Disciples, The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest. (Matthew 9:35-38)
Most people in the mission field today are not laborers for the Harvest. They have not been sent by God. Rather, they are sent by themselves or by a committee of people at their church. These people spend years on the mission field but see very few people Saved, Healed, or Delivered. Why? Because their motivation is wrong. They have not been Called by God to this Work. They may be laborers but they are not God’s laborers.
Please seek the Guidance of the Holy Spirit before you agree to be sent to a foreign land that someone thinks would be a good idea for you. While it might be a good experience, is it really God’s Call on your life? That is the question we all must answer.
The mission field is everywhere. It’s right on your street or in your town. Your mission field may be your workplace or classroom. There are lost people everywhere. The Harvest is plentiful. God sends the laborers. Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest. (Matthew 9:35-38)
God sends the laborers to……..….turn the tide...........in this world!
Thank you Lord! Doreen
