Lawful Or Helpful?
June 29, 2025, 3:00 AM

1 Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

The moral laws of God’s Word stand forever. What was morally right in the Eyes of God in the Old Testament was right in the New Testament and is still morally right today. Likewise, immorality has not changed either. Just because something is not against the law of the land does not mean God deems it good and permissible.

The Word of God is to be the Standard by which we conduct our lives, regardless of what the law of man says. There are many laws on the books today that are diametrically opposed to the Word of God.

As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians, All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.  As born again believers in Jesus Christ, every believer is to bring edification to others, encouraging them in the Word and by their example.

We cannot conduct our lives by the law of man if the law is not in line with the Word of God. Acts 5:29  But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Our government is so corrupt that few really care if the laws they are writing align with the Word of God. The Founding Fathers of our land based everything about our government and laws on the Word of God.

The Bible was their standard for living and governing. The American lifestyle has always been helpful and edifying to those who live in this country because it has been in alignment with God’s Word. That has changed over time, and we now have a corrupt, ungodly society that cares NOTHING for the Word or Ways of God.

The only way to turn it around in America is for God’s people to turn back to Him, learn His Word, and live it out every day for all of America to see. We must teach our children the Righteousness of God and encourage them to live righteous lives.

We are God’s children. Our bodies are the Temple of God. He has given us His Word to live by. He has given us His Son, who died on the Cross that we may be forgiven of our sins, live an abundant life on earth and spend eternity in Heaven. He has sent the Holy Spirit to teach, counsel, and guide us in life. He has placed His Angels all around us to protect us.

With all this (and more) afforded us by God…….why are we turning to man for answers? We will look at the answer to that question tomorrow. For today, remember what God said, For I am the Lord, I do not change; (Malachi 3:6)  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) Therefore, We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)

Please God……..turn the tide
