Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect Will of God.

 

Yesterday, we discussed the Apostle Paul’s determination to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. Paul was determined to eliminate all other thoughts from his mind and remain focused on what Christ accomplished on the Cross. 

 

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he reiterated this in the 2nd verse of the 12th Chapter. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,  Paul understood that the enemy’s goal is to take our thoughts captive, which puts a halt to the renewing of our mind and hampers our ability to hear and receive the Teaching of the Holy Spirit.  

 

Jesus spoke to this when He said, The enemy comes but to kill, steal and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and life more abundant. (John 10:10) We also read in 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

 

We must be on guard constantly and live our lives with the daily determination not to know anything except Jesus Christ and Him Crucified and continually seek the deep things of God by the Power and Teaching of the Holy Spirit. Then we will witness within ourselves the constant and continual renewing of our mind.  

 

The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul with great wisdom, and His Writings in the New Testament are a phenomenal resource on the subject of "How To Live a Life Pleasing to God," which should be the goal of every believer. That is why the Lord God inspired him to write over 2/3 of the entire New Testament. 

 

Paul was not a perfect man, but he understood the Message of the Cross like no other. His Writings are the Lord’s way of teaching the Message of the Cross to anyone who chooses to read them and seeks greater understanding and Wisdom. 

 

God can and will change our entire thought process if we seek Him first in our lives and are open to the Mind Renewal Process He has for us. This is a life-changing benefit in our Believer’s Benefit Package, but like all the other Benefits, we must want it and receive it to benefit from it.
