Lift Up The Name Of Jesus

Luke 7:37-38  And behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Yesterday, we described the Pharisees as religious men who considered themselves to be above the common people. They did not mingle with those of lower social or spiritual status. In this Passage, we see the powerful drawing of Jesus.

The woman is described as "a sinner." She was the lowest of the low; probably a prostitute. In the midst of her sin, the Messiah drew her to Himself. This is the Power of God that still draws the lost today. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. (John 6:44)

This is why we see people flooding churches when tragedy strikes. When a person is down and out and beyond hope, they seek God and He gladly receives them with open arms full of Grace, Mercy, and Forgiveness. This is the Character of God.

The Scripture says she stood at His feet behind Him weeping, The woman did not consider herself worthy of facing Jesus because she was so sinful. Therefore, she stood behind Him, weeping. In her heart, she believed herself to be beyond hope; a pitiful, filthy wretch of a human being. BUT, she had heard about this Man who had the Power to forgive sin and grant Salvation. She was shattered and desperate.

The idea that this woman would just walk into the home of a Pharisee was unthinkable, but what did she have to lose? She was already bound in sin and headed straight for Hell, and she knew it. Jesus was her only hope, and she would do the unthinkable to sit at His Feet and worship Him with everything that was within her.

She gave her all to Him as the highly religious Pharisees looked on in horror and disgust. This is the picture of total surrender the Lord wants from all of us. He is our only Hope. Without Him, we are nothing. With Him, we have everything!

Let us fall at the Feet of Jesus and give Him our all; totally surrendering ourselves, body, soul, and spirit to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; the Messiah, our Savior, who gave His Perfect Life on the Cross for us! Give Him praise in your house today and lift up the Name of Jesus everywhere you go!

He said, If I be lifted up, I'll draw all men to me.  May His Mighty Name be lifted up all across our great land! For Him we give thanks!

The Name of Jesus will........turn the tide
