John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the World.

 

As we study the long list of Names/Titles given to Jesus in the Word of God, we discover that Jesus is far more than we thought He was. It’s easy to say, “Jesus is my everything.” or “Jesus is my all in all.” However, by studying His Names and Titles, we come to the realization that He REALLY is everything! He actually is our all in all. Nothing is greater or more than Jesus for without Him we are nothing and can do nothing pleasing to God, the Father. Only through our faith in Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary can we be Redeemed and accomplish anything in and for the Kingdom of God.

 

The world is a horrible, dark place. It is ruled by Satan and his many demons and fallen angels. The world is an evil place and seems to be getting darker by the day. Although we all know that this darkness was Prophesied by Jesus and others in the Bible, we still can’t help but stand in horror of what we see happening in the world today. Personally, I don’t see how it can get much worse than it is now, but then again, I said the same thing 15 years ago.

 

As dark as the world is, the Light of the Lord Jesus Christ is still shining! One of the most powerful and wonderful Names/Titles of Jesus is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD. He came to be the LIGHT in the world of darkness and evil.

 

In the Gospel of John, we read where Jesus declared Himself to be the LIGHT OF THE WORLD. As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the World. (John 9:5) In a world of darkness, our only hope is the LIGHT and Jesus is that LIGHT.

 

Jesus also said, I am the LIGHT OF THE WORLD: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the LIGHT of life. (John 8:12) Jesus liked to teach using Parables. He taught spiritual concepts through natural scenarios. Every lesson taught by Jesus has both a natural and a spiritual implication. When we can understand the concept in the natural sense, we can then apply that lesson in the spiritual realm which is far, far more important because that which affects our spirits is eternal.

 

We all know how difficult it is to maneuver around in the dark. We stumble and fall because we cannot see. But the smallest amount of light will allow us to move about safely. This is a natural concept that is easily understood by most people.

 

To apply this in a spiritual manner is also easy to understand. As we have stated, the world is a very dark place. Evil is everywhere and seeks to bring harm to everyone. Satan is the ruler of the darkness and his goal is for evil to rule the world and all its people.

 

However, God sent Jesus to be the LIGHT OF THE WORLD! He, and He ALONE, brings Light to this dark and evil world. Jesus is the ONLY LIGHT in this world. He is our only Hope. Without Him, people stumble around in the dark and eventually end up in Hell with Satan and his demons. There is no other choice. All else will fail because God has the Master Plan and His Plan for this dark, lost and dying world is Jesus, the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!

 

 

The LIGHT OF THE WORLD will………..turn the tide……..in this dark and evil world.
