Lord Have Mercy

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man.

For the past several days, we have studied the three chapters of the Book of Habakkuk. Some refer to him as a Minor Prophet, but given the condition and circumstances of the world today, I would consider him to be a Major Prophet. The message the Lord gave him through a Vision could be given to anyone today and be relevant.

Habakkuk received the Vision in the year 626 B.C. Habakkuk had done his history lessons and knew all about the battle of Joshua 800 years earlier. The Vision caused him to recall the details of this battle and how the people had fallen into such moral decay; the Lord brought judgment against them.

He allowed the enemy to rise up in battle against His own people. These people were treacherous and ruthless. They had no respect for rulers or people in authority. Their goal was to destroy the Kingdom of God and take over the world, one nation at a time. God was allowing them to do so. Why? Because His people had turned so far from Him and their lifestyle had become so disobedient to His Word, they had to be chastised and corrected.

God told Habakkuk to write the Vision in stone so it would last forever, and everyone could read it and have respect for the Power of the Lord God Almighty. Habakkuk wrote it all down, but how many today have read it and found it to be pertinent for their life today? God said, and it is written in Verse 3 of the Second Chapter, For the Vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

As the Vision continued, the Lord described in detail the spiritual condition of His people. He spoke of the sins which included jealousy, pride, murder, extortion, blackmail, vanity, drunkenness, fornication, adultery, and idolatry. The people were living in horrible sin, exactly as it was in the days of Noah. Being just and fair, God had no choice but to bring judgment against them, which He did.

The Vision was so scary that it caused Habakkuk to tremble inside until his bones ached. He prayed he would not live long enough to see it all come to pass. He begged God to have Mercy.

This is the EXACT condition of the Church today. We are living as in the days of Noah and the days of Lot. Jesus said, And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the Ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from Heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. (Luke 17:26-30)

My friends, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He said, I am the Lord, I change not; (Malachi 3:6). God does not change. He is fair and just. He brings chastisement, correction, and judgment when it is needed.

Take a step back and look at the world today. Consider the condition of the Church. Watch primetime television. Thumb through a magazine. Listen to the lyrics of the music written today. Look at how people dress. Listen to the language on the street. I would say God's people are well deserving of correction and judgment.

Like Habakkuk, I tremble inside and pray for the Lord God to have Mercy. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Please God........turn the tide

Please,      Doreen
