Milk Or Meat?

1 Corinthians 3:2  I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now, you are still not able.

As soon as Ananias spoke to Saul and laid his hands on him, his eyesight returned and he was filled with the Holy Spirit. He was already saved. That happened back on the Road to Damascus when Jesus appeared to him in a Vision and spoke to him. God was doing a great work in this man named Saul and He would use him in His Kingdom like no other in all of history.

Luke recorded what happened and we find the whole story in the Book of Acts, Chapter 9:17-20. And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the Disciples at Damascus. Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.

The scales that fell off Saul’s eyes may have been a film that formed over his eyes during his time of blindness. We don’t know for sure but we do know that Saul’s spiritual eyes were opened and he was now seeing the Truth.

In addition, the Scripture tells us that after Saul ended his three-day fast and ate some food, he gained his strength back. So, now he was both able to see clearly and had the physical strength to move around.

We must remember that all Biblical accounts have both spiritual and natural implications. In this case, God opened Saul’s eyes both in the natural and in the spiritual. Also, when Saul received solid food (meat) he gained strength in his physical body. The spiritual application would indicate that as Saul learned the Truth of the Gospel of Christ from Ananias and other Disciples, he gained strength spiritually and was able to go and preach about Jesus in the synagogues.

In the natural, all newborn babies start their lives being fed milk. As they grow, they eventually can eat meat and they become big and strong. So it is in the spiritual. As new believers, we are fed milk. As we grow in our faith, we can take in solid food and eventually the meat of the Gospel. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now, you are still not able. (1 Corinthians 3:2)

We also read about this in Hebrews 5:12-14 For by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first Principles of the Oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the Word of Righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

As our spiritual eyes are opened and we gain spiritual strength, we are able to receive the “meat” of the Word of God. Sadly, many believers never reach this point in their spiritual lives. Are you still satisfied with milk or do you crave the meat of the Word of God? I pray you want some meat.

The meat will…...….turn the tide……….in your life.

I love the meat,         Doreen
