My Shepherd

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

The 23rd Psalm is one of the most quoted of all the Psalms. Written by David, he claimed it as his own, but it is not just for David. It is also for every believer. Take a moment amid the hectic turmoil of life, and allow this Psalm to usher in the Comfort and Peace of God.

Verse 1-2: The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

The Lord is our caretaker. He will provide for our every need and protect us from our enemies. If we choose to follow any other voice but that of the Lord's, we will be led to fruitless, barren pastures. Only God can lead us into lush, green pastures where we can sit beside the still waters. This Peace is not found in a person, church, or in any doctor, psychiatrist, therapist, or rehab center. Total Peace is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave His Life that we may have an abundant life here on earth.

Verse 3: He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of Righteousness for His Names sake.

As believers, we are His sheep. He will guide us and protect us. He restores our soul by His Grace and Mercy. He will lead us in the ways that are right in the Eyes of God.

Verse 4: Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.

Satan attacks us with his powers of darkness, but we can crush him under our feet like smashing a bug. The Hand of God will protect us from ALL evil attacks. When we submit our lives to Jesus, He becomes our Great Shepherd and will totally protect us. His rod and staff are continually beating back our offenders as He guides our every step.

Verse 5: You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

We have been invited to sit at the table of Abundant Peace and Plenty. The Holy Spirit of God has anointed us and we have more than we could ever imagine. Although our enemies are all around us, looking on with hate, we have no fear because we trust our Great Shepherd.

Verse 6: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

The Goodness and Mercy of God are with us every day of our lives here on earth. And to top it off, we have the assurance that we will dwell in the House of the Lord forever and ever. With all this, who could ask for anything more?

The Son of God will........turn the tide

So grateful,      Doreen
