John 1:4 and the Life was the Light of men.
In the first five Verses of His Book, John describes the deity of the Word of God. He begins by telling us that in the beginning was the Word, and together with God and the Holy Spirit, everything was created by Them (the Trinity) together.
Next, John shares that the Word was the source of Life. This presents the Word as a Person who is the Life source for everything. Without the Word, there is no life.
We must remember that when John wrote this in 26 A.D. the people had only the scrolls of God’s Word and God’s Word through the Prophets. They had much of the Word memorized, and it was the Word of God in their hearts that sustained Life within them. They thrived on their faith in the Word of God. It was their Life source. Without it, they would surely die.
John then goes on to explain that the Word (the Life) is also the source of Light for mankind. Without the Word, there is no Light, only darkness.
With that, we have One Person of the Trinity described as the Word, the Life, and the Light. Without light, there is no growth. Plants, animals, and people must have light to thrive. This is a natural law set in place by God. It is also a Spiritual Truth. Without the Light of the World, which we have determined to be the Word, there would be no Life, and we would surely die.
Life and Light are found only in the Word of God. They are all three the same Person of the Trinity. One does not exist without the other.
The Word of God is our source of Life and Light. It is our sustenance. Jesus said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God. (Luke 4:4) The Word of God is our Life Source.
King Solomon, the wisest man to ever live, said this: He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain My Words; Keep My Commands, and live.” (Proverbs 4:4)
My friends, the Holy Word of God is an extremely important facet of God's Divine Order for His Universe. The Word is a Person of the Trinity. It is live. It is Life and Light. It is our life source for everything. Feed upon the Word of God and thrive!
