Joel 1:15 Alas for the day! For the Day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
Nine years ago, the forests of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee caught on fire. Beautiful Gatlinburg and the surrounding towns were evacuated as the fire raged out of control due to high winds. Several hundred structures have been consumed by the blaze, and at last count, ten people have lost their lives.
At Dollywood (a theme park and resort, owned by Dolly Parton, in the town of Pigeon Forge), a single page from a Bible was found under a park bench. The Bible had been burned, but the scorched page that remained has spoken a powerful message. The story was so profound that it made the evening news, USA Today, and flooded social media.
The Page spared by God for the people to read is the First Chapter of the Prophecy of Joel. The Word of God, which survived the fire, says the following:
Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God. Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the House of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord,
Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
Some may consider this to be a coincidence, but personally, I do not believe in coincidence. God does nothing by chance. Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord. Every decision is made by God.
Take heed, my friends. The earth is shaking. The fires are burning. The seas are raging. Alas for the Day! For the Day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
I am unable to attach a photo here, but I encourage you to read the whole story of the young man who found this only remaining page. You can do so by copying and pasting the following link:
