Ephesians 6:16 taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

In the 6th Chapter of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul wrote on the subject of Spiritual Warfare. Have no doubt, this is war in the spiritual realm and we are all engaged. Yes, we are at war every day with the enemy.

War has two aspects: offense and defense. The believer must understand both aspects to become an overcomer and walk in Victory and Freedom. Most of the time, we are on defense because when things are going well, there is no need to fight. I see this as a big mistake on the part of the born-again believer. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he shall devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

Satan has millions of fallen angels and demonic spirits in his army and he is their commander. These spirits attack us all the time. The Bible has many names for them and one of them is fiery darts. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16)

Fiery darts attack our minds and come at us in the form of temptation, accusations, and deceptions. This began way back in Genesis when Eve first encountered the serpent. Eve belonged to God so the serpent had no legal right to her. To gain rights to her he tempted her to sin and she fell for it.

Sin opens the door for Satan to gain a foothold that will become a stronghold and a controlling force in our lives. The Apostle Paul called this giving place to the devil. Neither give place to the devil. (Ephesians 4:27) Eve did not realize she was doing this, but she was and when she fell for the temptation of the serpent the door to sin was opened and nothing would ever be the same.

Satan has not changed in the way he operates. Just as he tempted Eve in the Garden, he tempts us every day. God does not tempt people. Satan tempts people. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. (James 1:13) God does allow Satan to tempt us to test our faith. We know this by reading the Book of Job. (Job 1:6-12)

Be aware of the temptation that comes your way every day. Your faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross will shield you from it all but you must be continually watchful and keep your shield of faith up. You can expect a fiery dart of temptation, but your faith will guard against them all.

The Bible tells us to not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11) and do not give place to the devil. (Ephesians 4:27) This is how we maintain successful defense in spiritual warfare. Yes, it is ongoing. The enemy never gives up but never fear, greater is He that is in me (and you) than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Faith in Christ Crucified will overcome the enemy and……….turn the tide……..in your life.
