One Body One Church

1 Peter 3:8-9 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

Jesus set Peter apart and declared, “On this rock, I shall build my church.” The name Peter means rock and in Peter’s two Books of the Word of God, he lays the foundation for how the Body of Christ should be.

How wonderful the church would be if the people would be obedient to the Word of God, written by Peter. Just think what it would be like if everyone was of one mind; in agreement with each other and in compliance with the Word.

The Body of Christ is to be as brothers and sisters; a family; tenderhearted and courteous toward each other. None of us is perfect and we will all make mistakes (even your pastor, deacons, etc.) if we respond in love toward each other and not return evil for evil, we will receive the blessing God promises.

This is a Passage that will bring conviction to the heart of every believer. Peter tells us that this is what we are called to. Christians we are to treat other Christians (even those of other denominations) as family. They may not look like us, talk like us, or worship like we do.

Our calling is not to try to get people to look like us because to look like us, they have to look AT us and we have been commissioned to help people look to Jesus, not people. The issue here is once again, pride. To draw attention to ourselves and attempt to make people do things like we do, is pride in action.

The only One worth looking at and trying to emulate is Jesus. Let us fix our eyes on the Prize and be of one mind with ALL Christians in the Body of Christ. God is calling His Church together because He is soon to be returning for His Bride. He is coming back for ALL who have been saved and born again.

He doesn’t care what building you go to on Sunday morning. He only cares about in whom you believe and place your faith and trust. The Body of Christ must stop bickering among themselves and come together as one family. That’s the way God intended His Church to be.

Jesus prayed in the 17th Chapter of John that the Church be one as I and the Father are one. Let us reach across the walls of denomination and come together as One Body, being of one mind, the Mind of Christ!

Having the Mind of Christ will……..turn the tide
