Psalm 78:4 We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious Deeds of the Lord, and His Might, and the Wonders that He has done.
The single most powerful and important thing we can pass on to our children and our grandchildren is our Faith in God and the Gospel of Christ. This should be the Legacy of every Christian to the coming generations.
As we get older, we become more and more aware of how we will continue to provide for them when we are gone from this earth. Life Insurance, trust accounts, jewelry, real estate, and other tangible assets are fine, but they cannot compare to leaving a Legacy of Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We all know that all the money in the world cannot buy Salvation, Love, Faith, Wisdom, Peace, Comfort, Prophetic Words, or the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Nor can we pass these things on through bank accounts or real estate holdings.
In the Third Chapter of the Book of Acts, we read where Peter and John passed by a crippled beggar who was sitting at the Temple Gates. This man had been carried there by his friends every day for many years. Unable to walk or provide for himself, he sat there day after day begging for enough money to survive.
As he saw Peter and John approaching, he asked them for some money. Peter's response to the man would change his life forever and provide a Legacy of Faith that the man would pass on to his family and friends, and still lives on to this day!
After the crippled beggar asked them for money, Peter looked him square in the eyes and said, Look at us. Peter wanted the man to pay attention to what he was about to say and do. Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
With that, Peter took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength and he leaping up stood, and walked and entered with them into the Temple, walking, and leaping and praising God.
These days, we must consider the Legacy we will leave behind. Silver and gold are of little importance as they will be squandered on material things that will eventually rust and fade away. A Legacy of Trusting God through Faith in Jesus Christ will never rust or fade away.
The beggar who had nothing of this world left behind a powerful Legacy: his personal testimony of the Healing Power of God. What will be your legacy? What will you leave for future generations? Consider this very carefully and heed the Word of God. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious Deeds of the Lord, and His Might, and the Wonders that He has done.
The Power of God can...........turn the tide
