2 Corinthians 8:1-2 Moreover, Brethren, we do you to witness of the Grace of God bestowed on the Churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
The great Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians and reminded them of the faith the Macedonians had to give to the Work of the Lord no matter their circumstances. They were in the midst of a great trial and massive affliction. They were buried in deep poverty, and yet they gave to the Work of the Lord in abundance. This is a lesson that is rarely taught from the pulpit today.
They gave beyond their means. Few people today are willing to do this. Most people give to the Work of God out of what they have left over after all the bills are paid, and they have indulged in what they want. This is not how the Word of God commands His people to operate.
We are to give of our “first fruits,” not 10% of what we might have left over. To give to God first takes faith. To trust God to provide for your every need when you have no means of providing for yourself takes great faith. It’s easy to find testimony after testimony of God providing for His people, and yet, most don’t trust Him for themselves.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) This simple Proverb is the favorite of many, many people, but few actually live it out in their daily lives. Jesus said, Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:31-34)
All of America is worried about tomorrow. So many things are all wrong, and we know it. We are in debt up to our ears. People are coming into our country illegally by the millions, and we are supporting them. Our government is so corrupt that we can’t make heads or tails of it. The politicians are passing down laws and decrees that seem so outlandish we can’t even believe it. What is being taught in our public schools is appalling. What has happened to our country?
To answer this question, all one has to do is read the Word of God. America, as a nation, turned its back on God and His Word. That’s what has happened to America. We, God's people, have failed to stand up for what we know to be Right and True. We have hidden behind the closed doors of our churches, expecting the lost souls in our country to do what is our responsibility.
God has ALWAYS called His People to be faithful to His Word. The lost will never be faithful to the Word of God. They know nothing of the Word of God. How can they be faithful to it?
The bottom line is: God’s people in America have misplaced faith. Our faith is in everything EXCEPT God and His Word. We have put Him last, and we expect Him to put us first. It doesn’t work that way, my friends. Read the Bible! Get on your knees and pray! Repent! Turn from your wicked ways.
God and His Word used to be the heartbeat of America. He can turn this nation around in a single heartbeat IF our hearts will beat once again for Him. For whom does your heart beat?
God is waiting. He will soon…..…..turn the tide
With every beat of my heart, Doreen
