2 Corinthians 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the Knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
The enemy has one goal: to destroy our faith and our Salvation. He does this by implanting thoughts in our minds. If we don’t recognize that these thoughts are from him and we dwell on them, they will produce strongholds or footholds in our lives that will cause us to have an incorrect perception of our identity in Christ and will eventually destroy us.
Strongholds and footholds are lies that we believe and over time create incorrect thinking patterns. If a child is told every day by their teacher that they are stupid and will never be able to learn anything, they will soon believe what the teacher is saying and this lie will produce a foothold in their life. Footholds trip you and cause you to fall down. Then while you are down, the foothold becomes a stronghold that prevents further progress or growth.
Satan is a liar. Jesus called him the father of lies. (John 8:44) He never speaks the truth. He ONLY speaks lies. That means he ONLY plants lies and evil thoughts in our minds.
The Holy Spirit also puts thoughts in our heads. His thoughts are good and beneficial. The thoughts of God only produce good. Everything God creates or produces is good and He only wants good for us; all of us.
So, the questions are: Who are you listening to? And, Who are you believing?
We have the ability to choose who we listen to and what we believe. Our minds are constantly filled with thoughts and the ones we choose to hear and believe will guide and rule our lives. What we believe becomes who we are, how we operate in life, and where we will eventually spend eternity.
To go to Heaven we must believe in Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary. If we don’t believe in Him, we are not saved and born again. Therefore, we are lost, dying, and headed for eternity in Hell. Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born-again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
The more we listen to the voice of Satan, the more we believe him which will result in strongholds being built in our soul (our mind, will, and emotions). We repeatedly respond the same way in certain circumstances due to our identity in Christ. We are either IN Christ or we are not. When we are IN Christ, no matter what happens, we will respond in Love and Righteousness. Why? Because God is Love. He who does not love, does not know God, for God is Love. (1 John 4:8)
The Apostle Paul gave us some wonderful advice when he wrote: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the Knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Listen closely. Who are you listening to? God’s Voice will……….turn the tide….....in your life.
