Luke 5:9  For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

Simon Peter and his fishing partners had fished all night to no avail. The fish were simply not there. That is, not until they went fishing with Jesus! Then, they caught so many fish their nets began to tear, and their boats started to sink due to the great number of fish.

We don’t know if Simon Peter was the leader of the fishing business, but he is who Jesus dealt with that morning, and all the other men with him got to witness a tremendous miracle and blessing.  It was Peter’s boat the Lord asked to borrow, but look how many more were blessed by Peter’s act of obedience! These men were in business together. They worked together to earn a living and provide for their families.

The point I would like to make here is that when God calls us to step out in faith and do something, the blessing that will come our way because of our obedience is not just for us. Everyone around us will see too. Our family and those with whom we are associated will get in on the blessing as well.

Luke says it like this: For he (Peter) and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

There were a lot of men there. It wasn’t just Peter and a few others. We don’t know how many there were, but the Word of God tells us that all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

Peter, James and John were partners in a fishing business, and they had a crew of men who worked for them. Although Peter had doubts that they would catch anything, he acted in obedience to Jesus, and EVERYONE who worked with him was astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; The whole company witnessed a tremendous miracle because of Peter’s obedience.

This is what God can do when we allow Him to become a partner with us in our home, group, or business. All our partners, employees, relatives, and associates will be blessed too! Your faith is not just about you. Your faith will build the faith of others.

Peter’s faith grew and grew, and we read in Matthew 16:18 where Jesus said, And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

A single step in faith due to obedience to God’s call can result in something REALLY BIG! Listen for God’s Voice. Respond in faith and obedience. You have no idea how many people will be reached because of YOUR faith.

God is calling believers to obedience. He wants to……..turn the tide
