Peace That Passes Understanding

Psalm 103:2-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His Benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities,

Yesterday we initiated a discussion on the Benefit Package that comes along with being a born again Christian. This Benefit Package is so enormous we could write continually about it for years and never speak to it all. The Lord God loves you so much He wants to Bless you beyond measure and at the very top of the list of Benefits is the Forgiveness of all your sin and iniquities.

If this is true, why are so many Christians living guilt ridden lives filled with bitterness toward others? The answer to this question is the opposite of the Benefit of Forgiveness. The culprit is unforgiveness.

Unforgiveness is a demonic spirit that many people are burdened with. The ability to forgive comes only by way of the Cross of Christ. Jesus said, But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:15)

When we harbor unforgiveness in our heart, we are robbing ourselves of our own forgiveness. This is the Biblical Principle of sowing and reaping. If we want to reap the Forgiveness of God then we must sow the seeds of forgiveness toward others. You CANNOT reap what you do not sow.

Jesus paid the price for ALL of your sin and the sins of the entire world. He paid the sin debt for everyone. It was a debt He did not owe but out of His great love for all of mankind, He paid it anyway.

When we look back over our lives and consider all our many sins we can begin to understand the price Jesus paid just for OUR sin. Think about the fact that He was whipped for everyone’s sin. This includes every sin, ever committed by every person to ever live. The number is so great it is beyond measure.

Everything about God is beyond measure. We are unable to measure His Love, His Forgiveness, His Patience, His Blessings, His Faithfulness, His Ability, His.........EVERYTHING! Nothing about God can be measured because He is without limits.

Jesus was whipped and gave His Life for every sin you have ever committed. You are FORGIVEN, lock, stock and barrel! However, as long as you harbor unforgiveness in your heart toward someone else, you will also harbor the guilt of your own sin. When we do this we are allowing Satan to rob us of the Peace that passes understanding which is one of the greatest Benefits of being a Christian.

Whoever they are and whatever they have done to you, LET IT GO! Give it up to God! He will deal with them. That is the job of the Holy Spirit, not you. I know it's hard to forgive someone who has hurt you or cheated you but until you do, you will walk in your own punishment.

Jesus said, Give and you will be given.  He also said, But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Then and only then, will you reap the Benefit of you own Forgiveness by God. That Benefit is........The Peace that passes understanding. Trust me, this is a Benefit well worth forgiving them for!

Forgiveness will....... turn the tide ........in your life.

 At Peace,    Doreen
