Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the Church, which is His Body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Throughout the Book of Acts and the Epistles of the New Testament, we read that Jesus is the Head of the Church. No man on earth is qualified for this position. Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary so that we may be Saved and come together as believers in His Finished Work.
While we all have been Called and Gifted in ways, we are not the Head of the Church. Christ, and Christ alone holds that position. There are several Passages of Scripture that substantiate this. And He is the head of the body, the Church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18) And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the Church, which is His Body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:22-23) For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is Head of the Church; and He is the Savior of the Body. (Ephesians 5:23)
The Church is a group of people who have placed their faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary. They have been converted; transformed; changed from the person they used to be. Christians are different because of this transformation. Peter called us peculiar people because we are different than those who have not been Saved and born again. But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own peculiar people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (1 Peter 2:9)
Truly Saved, born-again people do not want to continue in their old ways of sin. One cannot love the Lord and love sin at the same time. Anyone who loves his sin is not Saved. They may attend church on Sunday but that does not make them Saved. In my opinion, Paul’s Epistle to the Romans explains this unlike anything else ever written. The following is a portion of the 6th Chapter.
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that Grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His Resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of Righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under Grace. (Romans 6:1-14)
Christ is the Head of the Church. We are the Church. Therefore, Christ is to be our Head and sin shall not dominate our lives. By the Grace of God through our faith in Christ, we have been set apart from the dark world and called into His Glorious Light! Hallelujah!
Faith in Christ Crucified will……..….turn the tide……..in this world.
Hallelujah! Doreen
