Luke 2:6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.
In the fullness of time, God sent His Son, Jesus, to be born. The events leading up to this event that would change all of mankind are very interesting. It was all part of God's preparation of the world to receive the Messiah. This preparation was comprised of four major parts: POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, MORAL, and RELIGIOUS.
Everything had to be just right for God to send His Son. Politically, the world was unified under the leadership of Caesar. People traveled easily from one country to another by great roads that had been built. Also, there was no language barrier because although the people spoke the language of their country, Greek was the common language, and almost everyone was fluent in Greek. All this was a necessary part of the preparation for the Gospel to be spread once Jesus came.
Economically, the world at that time had two classes of people: the extremely rich and the pitifully poor. Two-thirds of the people were slaves and considered no more than property or chattel. They were in such a bad economic condition that their hearts were open to receive the saving Message of the Messiah.
Morally, the world had deteriorated to an all-time low. Sin of every sort was rampant, and it would take the Spirit of Christ to save them.
Religiously speaking, the people had worshiped many Roman gods and even Caesar, the Emperor himself. However, all their worship was in vain. The Jews had spent centuries waiting for the Prophecy of the Coming Messiah to come to pass. The religious climate of the world was extremely dry. One might say they were in a spiritual drought.
The world was ready for Jesus to come. Preparation in every area of life had been made by God. It was all part of His Divine Plan for the world, and it all played out exactly as He orchestrated it. And then it happened! The Apostle Paul said, But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (Galatians 4:4)
God's Plan is still in place. In the fullness of time, He will........turn the tide
