Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

 

The ability to persevere is a Benefit in the believer’s all-inclusive Benefit Package. It is closely related to the Benefits of Hope and Strength. 

 

When we place our faith totally in the Cross of Christ, all the Benefits of God begin to flow freely in our lives. It’s all part of the Abundant Life Jesus died for us to have. Becoming a Christian is the absolute BEST decision any person can ever make in their entire lifetime. The Benefits that accompany this decision are beyond measure. 

 

God wants us to persevere, and He gives us the ability to do so. He has good work for us to do, and He will bring it to completion if we don’t lose Hope in Him. HE began the work, and HE will bring it to completion. We cannot do it on our own. Without Him, we are nothing, and we will surely fail. 

 

James, the half-brother of Jesus, said this: Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the Crown of Life, which God has promised to those who love Him. (James 1:12)

 

God promises that the Crown of Life will be received by every Christian who perseveres under trial and stands the test. This is like receiving a HUGE Christmas bonus at the end of the year for a job well done. While we do not work to receive our Salvation, we will be rewarded in Heaven for the way we live our lives here on earth. 

 

We can work for money and extravagant possessions in this life, or we can choose to work for the Crown of Life as we persevere in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is a choice we all must make. Who’s your boss? Who do you work for? 

 

The job is not easy. God never said it would be easy. However, He did say the Benefit Package is sufficient, and the final rewards will be great and beyond measure. 

 

With that said, let us keep on, keeping on as we face life one day at a time in full assurance that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
