Acts 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
God used the Apostle Paul to perform many great miracles. We read in the 19th Chapter of Acts where people were healed of disease and delivered from demons.
And God wrought special Miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. (Acts 19:11-12)
The enemy would not give up easily. Satan had possessed a man, and people came who practiced divination and witchcraft to rid him of the demonic spirits. Seven sons of a Jewish Chief Priest who practiced witchcraft were hired to exorcise the evil spirit out of the man, but the demon-possessed man beat them all up! This is a demonstration of the might of a demon, but that’s not the end of the story!
The Word of God goes on to tell us that when the Name of Jesus was magnified among the people, many believers came to see what was happening.
Believers had been using witchcraft in an attempt to cast out demons, but when they saw the Power in the Name of Jesus, they brought all their books and paraphernalia on witchcraft and burned them all up. They had a big bonfire right there in the middle of the street. The Word says the cost of the burned items equaled 50,000 pieces of silver!
They understood that the Name of Jesus is all they needed to cast out the most powerful demonic spirit. Witchcraft is of the enemy and should never be used in any way by a believer. Unfortunately, believers today use all sorts of means to rid themselves and others of demonic attack. This is NOT God’s plan or way.
Satan is tricky. Pray for discernment of spirits. The ONLY spirit we need is the Holy Spirit, and we have all the Power we need in the Mighty Name of Jesus! Praise God!
