Acts 18:11 And he continued there for a year and six months, teaching the Word of God among them.
Paul remained in Corinth for eighteen months, preaching and teaching the Message of the Gospel of Christ. He was both a Preacher and a Teacher of the Gospel. Luke mentioned this several times in the Book of Acts.
Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the Word of the Lord, with many others also. (Acts 15:35)
And daily in the Temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. (Acts 5:42)
Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the Kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him. (Acts 28:30-31)
It is clear to see by these Passages of Scripture (and there are many more) that both Preaching and Teaching are extremely important. While the material taught and preached is the same, preaching and teaching are different.
Preaching is proclaiming the Word of God while Teaching is explaining it. A Preacher of the Gospel of Christ will declare and proclaim to his listeners the Truth and base his belief on the Word of God. A Teacher, on the other hand, will explain the Word of God to those in his midst and his explanation will cause the listener to come to their own conclusion.
Both methods are very much needed to build the Kingdom of God. This is why Jesus instituted the Five-Fold Ministry consisting of Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Preachers, and Teachers. (Ephesians 4:11) All five are different Callings but are to deliver the same Message: the Message of the Cross of Christ.
This is the ONLY Message that changes people and brings them to Salvation. Only through their acceptance of the Message of the Cross will they come to the faith to believe in all that Jesus accomplished for them on the Cross of Calvary. This, and this alone, is what is needed for a person to have their name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life which is the single most important thing in the life of every human being. Why? Because the Word of God says, And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20:15)
When all is said and done, the only thing that will matter is whether or not our names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Is your name there? I pray it is. If you are not sure, contact me immediately.
The Message of the Cross will ……..….turn the tide
That’s all that matters. Doreen
