Press Toward The Goal
August 1, 2025, 3:00 AM

Philippians 3:14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

To live every day seeking the Will of God for our life and our Divine Assignment is to press toward the goal for the prize. Every day, God has laid out a path for us to follow; something to do; someone to speak to. Every step we take and every word we speak should be in accordance with His Will for our lives.

To press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus, is NOT to live in the past. God does not want us to live in the past, burdened with the guilt and shame of the days that are behind us. Rather, we are to live this day knowing that, this is the day that the Lord has made and He has something for us to do to fulfill our Divine Assignment.

It’s very difficult to walk backwards. You cannot see where you are going and can easily trip over obstacles in your path. If you walk backwards long enough, you will eventually fall. To walk backwards is to walk in one direction while looking back. This does not work in the natural or the spiritual. God placed our eyes in the front of our heads so we can see where we are going. When we fix our eyes on the prize and not let the world distract us, we can move toward the goal and the Prize, thus fulfilling God’s Divine Assignment for our lives each day. ...the Truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:21-24)

Our walk with the Lord is a daily adventure…..forward. God will never take us back to our old ways or cause us to be burdened by the past sins in our lives. God ALWAYS moves forward and wants us to move forward as well.

We have all failed in the past, but If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) God is faithful to grant forgiveness when we ask. Once forgiven, we can move forward into what God has for us and seek to fulfill our Divine Assignment.

To put it in a nutshell, to live in the Will of God is first to repent.  Ask the Lord to forgive you of the past sins in your life and turn from those sins. Never look back or go back except to testify of the Grace of God who has forgiven you and delivered you from bondage. Live for today, keeping your eyes on the Prize and headed toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Today is the day of Salvation. Today is the day of Healing. Today is the day of Deliverance. Today is the day that the Lord has made. Forget about yesterday and don’t worry about tomorrow. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow may never come. Live and serve God with all your heart TODAY!

Today is the day God is able to……..turn the tide

Living for today!      Doreen
