Habakkuk 2:8 Because you have spoiled many nations, all the Remnant of the people shall spoil you; because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all who dwell therein.
In verses 1-7 of the second Chapter of Habakkuk, we get a clear picture of the first part of the Vision of Prophesy God gave Habakkuk. Then in verse 8, the Lord explains what will happen to these people.
God allows His people to be persecuted by the enemy, but only to the degree He sets in place. Everything Jews and Christians have experienced throughout all of history has been allowed by God. Today, Christians are being murdered and tormented by an enemy that is the Nation of Islam. God is using these people to bring His people to a stronger faith in Him. Only when we are tested do we become stronger.
In constructing a building, every phase of construction is put under test. The easiest to understand is the plumbing test. Once all the water lines are installed, the water is turned on and allowed to flow into the entire pipe system, putting the system under a pressure test. The water is left on for 24 hours, after which the pipes are examined for leaks. Any leak is very easy to find because there will be water everywhere. This indicates a poor fitting or a weak pipe. The plumber then makes the necessary repairs, and the system is put under test again for another 24 hour period. This process continues until the entire plumbing system can hold under pressure. Then and only then, can the walls be closed and the next phase of construction continue.
God’s people are currently under a pressure test. There are many leaks and weak places. We see God’s people faltering every day as He allows the pressure to be turned up. However, there are always those who remain strong in the faith and overcome the pressures of evil. Throughout the entire Word of God, this group of overcomers is known as the “Remnant.”
The Remnant shall prevail over the enemy! This is God’s Promise to His true believers. Because you have spoiled many nations, all the Remnant of the people shall spoil you; To be counted in the Remnant, one must have total and complete faith in Jesus Christ.
To be counted among the Remnant should be the goal of every believer today. As the pressure mounts, stand strong. God will use those who hold under pressure to carry the Living Water to the world and spoil the enemy.
