Acts 13:47 For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set you to be a light of the Gentiles, that you should be for Salvation unto the ends of the earth.
The Jewish leadership came against the Gospel of Christ preached by Paul and Barnabas and almost caused a riot in the streets of Antioch in Pisidia. The Evangelists didn’t back down. In fact, they became bold because this is what the Lord God Almighty had commanded them to do. So, they turned from the Jews and took the Message to the Gentiles. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: But seeing you put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of Everlasting Life, Lo, we turn to the Gentiles. (Acts 13:46)
This is what the Lord had Commanded them to do. It was not a Divine suggestion, it was a Command given by God. The word “command” in Greek is entellomai which is a military term and means to give orders or a charge and is meant to be obeyed without question.
Then Paul said For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set you to be a light of the Gentiles, that you should be for Salvation unto the ends of the earth. (Acts 13:47) This was the fulfillment of the Prophecy given by Isaiah 750 years prior. Speaking of Jesus, God said through the Prophet Indeed He says, “It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be My Salvation to the ends of the earth.” (Isaiah 49:6)
This was God’s Salvation Plan through His Son and it is for all people. When Jesus was born, the Angel of the Lord spoke to the shepherds in the field and said, Do not be afraid for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the City of David a Savior, Who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11)
In accordance with the Law, when Jesus was forty days old, his parents took Him to the Temple where He was dedicated to the Lord. Simeon had been led to the Temple that day and when he saw the Baby Jesus, he picked Him up and prayed to God saying, For my eyes have seen Your Salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples. A light to bring Revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel. (Luke 2:31-32)
From the Prophecies spoken and the fulfillment of them, we know that it is God’s Will for the Gospel of Christ to be preached to every remote corner of the earth. This is to be first and foremost among all Preachers and Teachers of the Gospel. Every person on earth must have the opportunity to hear the Gospel Message. Whether they receive it and are Saved is their decision to make.
The Gospel of Christ is the Power to……….turn the tide
I love to tell the Story, Doreen
