Put God First

Psalm 81:7 You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered in the secret place of thunder: I proved you at the waters of Meribah.

We love to read and quote Passages of Scripture like this one. The ones that talk about the Delivering Power of God in our time of need. The Passages explain that God is able to bring us up out of the pit and set our feet on the rock.

We also love Hebrews 13:5 where the Lord promises, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. Yes, God makes these Promises to us, but every Promise of God is conditional. While His love for us is unconditional, His Promises are not. We must read the entire Scripture to fully understand the Promises of God.

God performs Miracles in the lives of many who do not conform to His Word to show them He is real and draw them to Himself, but once we become believers, God expects us to live our lives in accordance with His Word and welcome the Holy Spirit to do His Sanctifying Work in us.

He will continually reveal to us those areas in our lives that are not in compliance and He expects us to be willing to allow Him to make the needed changes. This is the ongoing process of Sanctification in the life of every believer that never ends until the Lord calls us home. Sanctification is available to those who place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary.

As we read and consider the Words surrounding the Promises, the conditions become apparent. 81 is a perfect example of this. You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah “Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me! There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god. I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. “But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. So I gave them over to the lust of their own hearts, To walk in their own counsels. “Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries. The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever. He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.” (Psalms 81:7-16)

God is almost begging His people to listen to Him and obey. O Israel, if you will listen to Me! Immediately following is the condition: There shall be no foreign god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god. I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

But they didn’t obey and this is what happened: But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. So I gave them over to the lust of their own hearts, To walk in their own counsels.

As we read on the Lord tells us what He wants to do, IF His people will simply walk in His Ways. Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways! I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn My hand against their adversaries. The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him, But their fate would endure forever. He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.

This sounds very much like America to me. The Body of Christ, as a whole, is not in compliance with the Word of God. We worship an untold number of foreign gods including money, power, false religion and self-gain, just to name a few.

All God asks of His people is to be first in their lives. Jesus said, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. This is another conditional Promise of God. He stands ready, willing, and able to bless us beyond our imagination IF, we are surrendered to Him. It’s time for the Body of Christ in America to fall on their faces before the Lord in total surrender and repentance. God knows our hearts. He is calling us to surrender and repentance. If we don’t respond we can expect the same result: My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. So I gave them over to the lust of their own hearts, To walk in their own counsels. He WILL give us over to our own lusts and let us walk in our own counsels.

Oh God! Let us be among those who listen and hear Your Voice. Let us walk in Your Ways and put You FIRST in our lives!

Only you God, are able to……….turn the tide
