Reading And Heeding

Galatians 5:21 Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

We live in a world of warnings. For the protection of people, warning signs are posted in public and on product labels. When we see the skull and crossbones we know this is the warning sign indicating this product is poisonous. Road signs indicating a sharp turn ahead are a warning to slow down. Tobacco products have a warning on the label because the use of these products is dangerous. Prescription drugs have warnings posted in regard to their side effects.

Most people will heed warning signs and labels while others take their chances and disregard them. It is a known fact that smoking cigarettes causes cancer and yet, millions of packs are sold every week and we see people smoking cigarettes everywhere.

Warning signs and labels are for our own good. They are posted for the protection of people. Out of love for our children, we warn them about things. “Don’t touch the stove, it will burn you.” “Don’t ride your bike in the street, you will get run over.” “Don’t dive into shallow water head first, you will break your neck.”

God loves us so much that He gave us an entire Book of warnings. The Bible is exactly that. The entire Book of Proverbs contains warning after warning about what is right and wrong. God created us for good and He has given us the Manual to direct our path in life. His Book contains the answer to every question about living a life pleasing to God.

Some people call it a “set of rules” but it is actually a set of warnings and guidelines for living. We expect our children to listen to us and heed our warnings, but do we heed God’s warnings? Do we even know what those warnings are?

The Passage of Scripture, Galatians 5:21, is a perfect example: Envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

It’s time to start taking God seriously. He means what He says. His Book is full of warning signs for us to read and heed, not ignore and hope God is bluffing. He is not bluffing. He is a just God. He makes the rules. He gives the warnings and He makes promises. God keeps His promises.

If we don’t read the Bible, we will not know the warnings of God. Satan will lie to us and tell us God doesn’t really care. God does care. He cared enough to die for us on the Cross. He knows none of us is perfect. He knows we will all fall to temptation at times. He stands ready to forgive us but He expects us to sincerely repent, turn away from our sin, and heed His warnings.

Open your Bible and read it. It’s time to start reading and heeding the Word of God. Teach it to your children. Demand that it be taught in the public schools where you live. The Word of God is the basis for our entire, original system of laws in America not to mention our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence.

Read and heed because God is about to…......turn the tide
