Jude 24 Now unto Him Who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the Presence of His Glory with exceeding joy.

Twenty-three years ago today was a devastating day in American history as nineteen militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. On that day over 3,000 Americans lost their lives.

At first the experts thought the World Trade Center towers could withstand the hit, but they could not and we watched as the massive structures crumbled to the ground. When the smoke had finally cleared in New York City, the two towers of the World Trade Center were no more than a huge pile of rubble; broken glass, and twisted steel. This is the result of evil.

Immediately the authorities called for the rescue effort and clean-up to begin. The task at hand called for experts in this field. For months following, truck after truck came in to carry away debris from the site. Piece by piece, the mess was cleaned up until finally, the job was complete. Every piece of broken glass and all the debris had been carried off. Only memories remained in the hearts of the survivors and the loved ones of the thousands who lost their lives that day. Today there is a new, more beautiful structure on that site.

The attack of the evil one is fierce. Jesus said, He comes ONLY to kill, steal and destroy. (John 10:10) Just as he attacked America on 9/11, he attacks us all personally. At times he hits us hard causing severe damage and leaving us broken in a heap of debris and with tormenting, horrific memories.

As believers we are built on the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ and have access to the Holy Spirit who is able rescue us and do the needed clean-up. However, we must first give Him permission to do so. We have all taken hits from Satan; some much harder than others, but every hit results in damage and pain, and the memories remain.

Jude, the half-brother of Jesus, assures us that, God is able to keep us from crumbling and falling like the World Trade Center towers. He said, Now unto Him Who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the Presence of His Glory with exceeding joy.

Perhaps you’ve been hit hard by the enemy; maybe many times. You are broken and merely existing somewhere under a pile of debris. The memories haunt you constantly and try as you may, you cannot escape them. This is the evil attack of the enemy on your life.

It’s time to call for the expert rescue team and clean-up crew. Like the twelve in the World Trade Center Towers, you are buried in there somewhere, and you are alive. You may be covered under a mass of broken debris, but He Who is able to keep you from falling ready and waiting for you to call on Him. The Holy Spirit of God is able to rescue you, clean you up and deliver you from the rubble of your past.

It will take time, but piece by piece the clean-up process can take place in your life when you give Him permission to do what ONLY He can do. No psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist self-help group, or medication can accomplish this task. This demands the Work of Him Who is able to keep you from falling.

You do not have to go on like this. You have waited long enough. You have suffered a long time and are perhaps at the point of crumbling. Allow Him to do what ONLY He can do. Jesus shed His Blood on the Cross at Calvary so you can be healed and set free from your tormenting past.

He wants you to stand and be strong. He wants to clear away all the debris and build a new, more beautiful person with your feet firmly planted on the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ who is your Firm Foundation.

Only God can do this. Only God can……..turn the tide

Only God.       Doreen
