Psalm 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so He gives His beloved sleep.
Many people today suffer from insomnia, the inability to sleep. They cannot go to sleep, and when they do, they wake up in the middle of the night as their minds race with the problems they face every day. Insomnia is an evil spirit that attacks God’s people. With little sleep, it is hard to function. The human body requires sleep. Jesus said, Come to Me and I will give you rest. The spirit of insomnia seeks to rob the believer of their rest.
When we sleep, our bodies are restored. During this time, God speaks to us through dreams and brings revelation, warning, and confirmation to issues in our lives that trouble us. If the enemy robs us of our sleep, the Lord can’t speak to us through dreams.
As people come here for retreats week after week, the one concern we hear over and over again is their inability to sleep. We pray continually for the Peace of God to be here so our guests can sleep. It's amazing to hear the testimonies of so many who finally, after night after night of sleeplessness, they find rest in this place. What a blessing it is to be able to facilitate the work of the Holy Spirit.
Most people do not see insomnia as an attack of the enemy. They think their mind is so occupied with important situations that they are too busy to sleep. This is a lie straight from Hell. The enemy will plant such thoughts in us but we must take every thought captive unto obedience to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5), and Christ said, Come to Me and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
God gives His beloved sleep; the ability to be restored physically, mentally, and spiritually. God wants us to be healthy, body, soul, and spirit and sleep helps to bring such healing.
If you have a problem with insomnia, you are under the attack of the enemy. God is greater than any demon Satan can attack us with. Rebuke that demon out of your home and replace it with the Holy Spirit of Peace. When Peace rules, you can lie down and rest. This will take persistence on your part, but as you continually rebuke that demon from your home and pray for the Peace of God to occupy that space, you will find that sleep will come and you will find rest and healing.
This is an act of submission to the Word of God. We must submit every aspect of our lives to Him, trusting that He is able. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) When we live a lifestyle of submission to the Lord, we will find the strength to persistently resist the devil. Then and ONLY then, he will flee from us. Hallelujah, another Victory in the Lord!
Only God can…….....turn the tide
