Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
In the Fifth Chapter of Galatians, we see where the Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians about sin and how to gain Victory over sin. In Verses 19-21, he writes a list of sins, calls it the works of the flesh, and declares that these sins are evident meaning that these sins are plain, clearly seen, and obvious.
The first four sins listed are sexual in nature. While God created sex, He does not intend for sexual thoughts and actions to rule our lives, and this is what the first four sins mentioned mean. Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, and lasciviousness are all sins that are due to sexually driven thoughts, and there is no place for this in the Kingdom of God. These sinful actions are prevalent in the world, outside the fence of the Pasture of Plenty, but are not to be found inside.
Anyone who enters into sexual sin knows it’s wrong. God has placed in the heart of every person a conscience, which is that little voice inside that tells us to hide because what we are doing is not right. The world today is trying to convince people of the exact opposite.
Everything seems to be driven by sex today, and unfortunately, much of the Church has bought into this demonic scheme of the devil. Television, books, magazines, movies, the internet, video games, clothing, etc., are all designed to bring on ungodly sexual desires, and the media has now taken this to a whole new level. It is so prevalent in our culture today that many Christians have bought into it and are living their lives totally driven by sex.
God’s Word makes it clear that ANY sexual activity outside the marriage covenant (which is between one man and one woman) is sin. Jesus took it a giant step farther and said, But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:28) To even think about it is sin, and this describes one meaning of the word lasciviousness: sexual thoughts that drive sexual actions.
My friends, I don’t care what the media or anyone else says or what we read in print, the Word of God says it’s ALL SIN, and that’s exactly what it is. Sexual sin is always listed first in God's Word, and it will absolutely destroy your faith, move you away from the Cross of Christ, and it will eventually destroy you completely if you don’t repent and ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse you of this sinful behavior.
If you ask God, the Holy Spirit will lead you into all Truth and you will see the evil of your ways. When you ask the Lord to forgive you and repent (turn from the sin) He will change your thought processes, and one day you will realize your wants and desires have completely changed! This is the Power of the Holy Spirit to change lives, but we must first be open to the convicting Power of God and respond in obedience.
The Holy Spirit wants to……....turn the tide.........in your life.
Changed! Doreen
