1 Timothy 1:3-4 As I besought you to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that you might charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than Godly edifying which is in Faith: so do.
It is believed that the Apostle Paul never married and had no children, but Timothy was like a son to him. There are two letters written by Paul to Timothy that God intended to be a part of the New Testament. These two letters are a wealth of information for every believer.
It’s interesting to note that the first letter to Timothy is believed to have been written approximately in the year 65 AD. Just thirty-two years after the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Christ, Paul is already warning Timothy against false teaching in the Church. Unbelievable!
Paul left Timothy in charge of the Church at Ephesus while he went to Macedonia, and this first letter is both a warning, instruction, and encouragement to him as overseer of the Church. It has also served the readers well since that time and still does to this day.
Paul begins with a strict warning about what is to be taught to believers. He told him not to waste his time on fables and endless genealogies because these lead to questions that would indicate the people would be confused. This is a powerful Word of instruction for the Church today.
No one should ever leave Church or a Bible Study confused. The Truth of God’s Word and the Gospel of Christ is not confusing. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:33) The Gospel of Christ is simple and straightforward. God designed it that way so the simplest of minds would be able to understand and be saved and born again.
In these Last Days, be attentive to what is being preached and taught in your midst and to your family. There should be no question in your mind after hearing a teaching or message, rather….. Godly edifying which is in Faith. This is the Message that turns the tide in the lives of people. When the Message of the Cross of Christ becomes the object of the faith of the believer, they will be born again, never to be the same. Hallelujah!
No fables….. No confusion…… No questions. Only faith in the Son of God who gave His All so we may be saved, healed, and delivered! Praise God for simplicity.
Only God can……..turn the tide
Praise Him! Doreen
