Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
We cannot serve two masters. These are the Words of Jesus Christ. God calls His people to serve Him and Him alone. This is an underlying theme of the entire Word of God because it is God’s call and plan for every person. For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29: 11)
God creates every person to worship Him and serve Him. This is the purpose of our existence. God does not create anything to worship evil or follow Satan, and yet, that is exactly what most people do. I can’t imagine how sad the Lord must be over this.
We cannot live with one foot in the Kingdom of God and the other in the world and all its evil. We must decide which master we will serve and then serve with all our hearts. God is seeking people who are sold out lock, stock, and barrel for Him.
Everyone is “sold out” to something. We are each deeply passionate about something, and God wants it to be Him. Nothing else will do, and God will not listen to our excuses. He created us, gave us life, gifted us, and anointed us each in a specific way to worship Him and build His Kingdom. This, and this alone, is our purpose. All else is the work of the enemy in our lives to draw us away from the Kingdom of God and into the world of evil.
Before you get all worked up thinking I am proclaiming a life of “works” for salvation, let me make myself perfectly clear. NO ONE CAN WORK THEIR WAY TO HEAVEN. We are only saved by Grace, through faith in Christ and what He did on the Cross. However, once saved and truly born again, we must understand who we are in Christ and the purpose for which we were created. We were NOT created to serve Satan and his world.
Many have said, “Satan does not have a grip on me.” That may or may not be true. There is a very simple test to determine which God you serve. All you need to do is look at two things: your calendar and your checkbook. All we have with which to serve the Lord is our time and our assets. Most of us have far more time than money.
The answer to “What God do you serve?” is answered very simply. What do you do with your time, and where do you spend your money? Go ahead, account for your time. What do you spend your time doing? Then, look at your credit card statement and/or your checkbook register. Where do you spend your money? If the answers to these two questions do not point to building the Kingdom of God, you are not sold out, lock, stock, and barrel to serving the Lord.
I know this is a convicting message, but God’s people need to be convicted and repent. He is looking for people who will serve Him with all their heart and build His Kingdom. Jesus said, Love the Lord will all your heart, mind and soul. All else is worthless. The great Apostle Paul said it like this in his letter to the Philippians. I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, (Philippians 3:8)
I challenge you this day to take the test of how you spend your time and money. What god do you REALLY serve?
God will soon……….turn the tide
I pray you are ready. Doreen
