Psalm 35:17-18 Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue me from their destructions, my precious life from the lions. I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.
For over a week we have been studying the 35th Psalm, which is a Prophecy given to David. Many Prophecies are three-fold and this one is no exception. Psalm 35 tells of what would happen to David but it also speaks of the attack and torment the Lord Jesus Christ would endure on earth. These two parts of the Prophecy have already come to pass and are well documented in the Word of God.
The third part of this Prophecy has been playing out for a long time and the attack Christians are experiencing now is further fulfillment of this Prophecy. David experienced this. Jesus experienced this. Our Founding Fathers experienced it and now the Spirit of Christ is coming under great attack by the spirit of anti-christ manifested in the Muslim people around the world today.
The first sixteen verses of Psalm 35 describe the attack and the reaction to the attack, but here at the seventeenth verse the Holy Spirit begins to plead to the Father for help. This is where much of the Church is today in America as we find ourselves under the attack of this fierce enemy. Christians are pleading with God saying, Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue me from their destructions, my precious life from the lions.
This is exactly what happened immediately following September 11, 2001 when the enemy struck our country like never before. Americans watched in horror as the two World Trade Center buildings collapsed to the ground, planes crashed and the Pentagon was hit. Over 3,000 people were dead and America was in shock. With nowhere else to turn, they turned to God.
Virtually every church in America was filled to overflowing the following Sunday. People crowded into pews and stood in the back to hear a word from the preacher. They didn’t care how uncomfortable they were. They were seeking God because they knew not where else to go. This continued for approximately three weeks. Then, the shell shock seemed to pass and it was back to normal as the people returned to their same old wicked ways.
Terrified, the people said, Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue me from their destructions, my precious life from the lions. However, they were not willing to say, I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.
People seek help from God. God seeks the praises of His people. It’s easy to ask God for help but for some reason it’s not so easy to give God praise and glory for who He is, what He has done and is able to do.
We find ourselves living between Verse 17 and Verse 18; asking for help but not willing to give God the Praise He deserves. Therefore, God is saying “NO!” He is allowing this attack to continue in America and I believe He will continue to do so until Verse 18 and 2 Chronicles 7:14 become a reality in the hearts and lives of His people. If my people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.
It’s almost as if we are in a stand-off with God and we better back down because God said in Malachi 3:6 I am the Lord and I change NOT!
Today is the day to answer this Call of the Lord. How long will we live between Verse 17 and Verse 18? America has been there long enough. It’s time to surrender; back down, give in and live out Verse 18 and 2 Chronicles 7:14.
The Lord is waiting. He will not change. Only He can……..turn the tide
