Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
To be a loyal citizen of a country requires commitment. Good Americans are committed to liberty and freedom. We are so committed, we are willing to go to battle and lose our lives in the fight. Likewise, a parent is so committed to their family that they will lay down their life to protect their children.
One who is committed to the truth will reveal a falsehood and stand for justice. Someone who is committed to their business or job will work until the job is done, regardless of the time, money, or sacrifice required. Commitment is the result of integrity.
Commitment also comes with priorities. People of integrity are those who keep their commitments; they do what they say they will do; they are dependable. However, these people, as committed as they are and dependable as they may be, have priorities in their lives.
The person who is committed to attending a Bible Study every Tuesday morning at 9:00 is there faithfully every week. The group can depend on them. But if a member of their immediate family has a medical emergency, their commitment changes. Their commitment to their family supersedes their commitment to the Bible Study group.
The Word of God tells us to, Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. When we do this, all our other priorities change. At this point, we re-align our commitments. This is all part of the Sanctification process taking place in our hearts by the Holy Spirit of God, who is molding and shaping us into the person He can use in a greater way to build and strengthen the Kingdom of God.
God is seeking the commitment of His people. He wants us to realign our priorities and put Him first. His Word tells us that He is a jealous God. He does not want to be second or third on our priority list. He wants and is deserving of being FIRST!
As born-again believers and people of integrity, we are committed to many things, and they can all be good and worthy of commitment, but our first commitment must be to Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. Everything else is secondary.
Jesus said it like this: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)
Putting Jesus first will……..turn the tide
