Hebrews 11:34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Jesus told the people, But you shall receive Power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you. (Acts 1:8) The Power He spoke of here is the dunamis (Miracle-working Power) Jesus possessed during His earthly Ministry. As a side note, the word, dunamis, is the word from which we derive our word, dynamite! It is the Power of the Holy Spirit to bring about real change; big change; Miraculous change! Hallelujah!
Every Spirit-filled believer has this Power of the Holy Spirit in them but few know it or use it in the way Jesus said. What is this Power supposed to be used for? Jesus gave us the answer to this question as well. We are to continue the Work of Jesus on earth and this Work is two-fold. 1. To destroy the works of the devil. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8) 2. To take the Gospel of Christ to the entire world. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20)
For these two reasons ONLY we have been given the Power of the Holy Spirit. We are to NEVER use the Power of God for personal gain in way, shape, or form. None of our life is about us. It’s all about Him and Him alone. When we heap glory on our own heads, we are being led by Satan to do so. Many so-called preachers today are using the Power of God to build their own personal empire. God will not Bless such an endeavor.
Every great man or woman of God lowered themselves to a place of weakness and humbled themselves before God prior to their victory over the enemy. In our own power, we can do nothing to fight the enemy. Only through the Power of the Holy Spirit will we be Victorious against him. In the 11th Chapter of Hebrews we read of the men of faith. Many call this the Hall of Faith. After listing those people, the Word of God reads: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought Righteousness, obtained Promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. (Hebrews 11:33-34)
These people saw these Victories because of their faith in God. Under their own power and strength, they did nothing. ONLY when they humbled themselves and became weak did they see Victory. Nothing has changed. God still uses those who choose to be humble and weak. In them, He is made strong.
When we become weak, He will……….turn the tide……….in our lives.
I am weak. He is strong. Doreen
