James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Every born again believer wants to serve God. They want to have pure thoughts and live a righteous life. They want to leave behind the old self and walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus, but they simply don’t know how to do it. They look at other Christians and compare themselves to them. At that point, they feel defeated because they cannot do what all these other people have done: Be in control and find victory over their own thoughts.
Most Christians believe the devil is real. They can see how he attacks and controls others, but to admit the devil is implanting ungodly thoughts into their mind is hard to admit. They may not discuss it openly with others, but deep down inside, they know something has a hold on their mind and it’s not good. All those thoughts that keep haunting them and leading them astray are incredibly powerful, and no matter how hard they try, they can’t seem to get them out of their head.
In their quiet time with God, they ask: Lord, where is this coming from? Why can’t I have victory over this constant torment? How can I quiet these voices in my head and know the Peace that they all talk about?
This is the point when the enemy begins to tell the believer they are not good enough and they don’t deserve anything from God. This is a lie straight from Hell, but there is no telling how many Christians have bought into this lie and are living in defeat instead of Victory.
They know the Scriptures. They have memorized Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
They know what they are supposed to think about. They can quote Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
They know it, but they can’t live it out. Why? We find the answer in the Scripture we started with, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
For the enemy to flee from us, we must do two things: Submit ourselves wholly to God and resist the devil. The first part is what people don’t want to do. They want God to protect them and cause the enemy to leave, but they do not want to submit their lives completely to God. They do not want to totally surrender.
Every Promise of God is conditional. He will never go back on a Promise, BUT we must do our part FIRST. God wants His people to submit their entire life to Him; everything! If we will, He will. He made the Promises, and He will keep them IF and WHEN we do our part.
Today is the day to submit yourself to God TOTALLY! Give Him a chance to perform a life changing miracle in your life. He can do it. He WILL do it! He promised it to you in His Word.
The Word of God will………..turn the tide
So grateful, Doreen
