Matthew 10:19 But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak;
Over and over again, Jesus tells us not to worry or be anxious about anything. Worry and anxiety bring on stress, which causes disease and will ultimately lead to death. God wants us to totally depend on Him for everything, even the words we speak. But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. (Mark 13:11)
The Holy Spirit of God flows freely inside the Pasture of Plenty. Everything we need is there. The Holy Spirit will even give us the words to speak IF we allow Him to.
Preachers spend hours writing sermons. I knew a Pastor who actually rehearsed his sermon in front of a video camera and watched it over and over again and redoing it until he felt it was perfect. That may seem ridiculous to you, but many people do this. We figure out exactly what we are going to say to that person when we see them. We rehearse it over and over again in our minds until we have it down pat. All this is a lack of faith and causes nothing but stress.
When we prepare our own words, we are not seeking the Holy Spirit’s help. Instead, we have our heads through the fence, preparing our own words to write or say. Why do we do this? We do it because we are worried about how it will turn out, and we are not cashing in on the Benefit of God’s Help and Direction.
The Holy Spirit is our Teacher, Counselor, and Guide. When we give Him free rein to speak through us, we don’t have to worry about what to say. He knows what to say on our behalf, and it will always be perfect and in line with God’s Word. All we have to do is place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and trust God for the words to say in every situation.
If you are struggling with what to say to someone, STOP! Your head is through the fence! The enemy has you worried and is trying to convince you to say something you shouldn’t. Back up. Turn around. Go to the center of the Pasture of Plenty to the Cross of Christ. Remember, on the Cross Jesus defeated ALL the work of the devil. Any and all forms of worry is the work of the devil.
Rest in the situation, knowing the Holy Spirit will give you the words to say when the time is right. To receive the Benefit of Help and Direction we must surrender our own words and allow Him to speak through us. That means, stop planning what you will say and start trusting the Holy Spirit to have better Words than you do.
Surrendering your own words will………turn the tide…........in your life.
Learning to surrender, Doreen
