The Church In Ephesus

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

Nothing could be more beneficial than the study of God’s Word. As we seek to live our lives pleasing to God, we must study His Word because within the pages of His Book are His guidelines for our daily lives.

Yesterday, we embarked on a study of the seven Churches found in the 2nd and 3rd Chapters of the Book of Revelation. This study is pertinent to us because Jesus addresses each of the Churches separately giving them credit for what they are doing correctly and rebuking them for their failures. The seven Churches are a picture of the Church as a whole today and we want Jesus to be pleased with us.

Jesus instructed John to write to the Pastor of each of the Churches exactly what He told them about that Church. The first Church addressed is the Church of Ephesus. The following is what Jesus told John to write to the Pastor of the Church in Ephesus. I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My Name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your Lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the Tree of Life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.

There is a lot here in this letter to the Church of Ephesus. We will begin to break it down tomorrow. For today, read it again and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what part of it pertains to you personally and your Church. We must receive the correction of the Lord and be overcomers.

Repent, God will soon……….turn the tide

Receiving correction,         Doreen
