Mark 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What will you that I should do unto you? The blind man said unto Him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
The question posed by Jesus to every person is the same: What will you that I should do unto you?
Blind Bartimaeus asked to receive his sight. He had already thrown away his blind beggar's garment. He believed with all his heart that Jesus was going to heal him. His garment was all he had. It provided a place for people to throw a few coins during the day. It was also used to block the wind as well as a blanket to keep him warm at night. His garment, as pitiful as it was, was all Bartimaeus had until he met Jesus.
Bartimaeus didn’t get greedy with Jesus. He didn’t ask for great wealth and riches or a fancy house to live in. He merely asked for his sight. What a testimony of Faith!
Most Christians have a laundry list of wants they pray for every day, but few are willing to cast off their garment of pain and suffering. Unfortunately, it is in that garment that they find their identity, and in most cases, it is that of a victim.
We may be the victim of the world, but once saved, we are no longer the victim but the VICTOR! Like Bartimaeus, our Victory is in Jesus, and we can cast away the victim garment and put on the garment of praise! To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. (Isaiah 61:3)
The question for the day is: What garment are you wearing?
It’s time to trade in your victim’s garment for the garment of praise. Cast it off because Jesus is in your midst and He stands ready to make you whole!
Only Jesus can……..turn the tide
