The Golden Rule

Matthew 7:12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

In the 10th Chapter of the Book of Acts, we read that Peter obeyed the Voice of God and went inside the house of Cornelius, a Gentile. A group of Gentiles was there by invitation and they were excited to have Peter in their midst. After all, he had been sent by an Angel of the Lord!

Peter explained that God had appeared to him as well and showed him in a Vision that no man was any longer to be considered common or unclean. And he said unto them, you know that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean. (Acts 10:28) That Law had been fulfilled when Jesus went to the Cross and said, It is finished. (John 19:30)

Peter now understood the meaning of the Vision meant: No man is better than any other. We are all equal. This speaks directly to the subject of racism and elitism which are both evil.

As I write this, I am reminded of something my husband, Jack Betts, used to say. “I am not better than anyone else and no one is better than me.” Jack not only said these words, but he also lived by them. The color of a person’s skin, their economic condition, nor their position in society meant nothing to Jack. He treated everyone exactly the same. I was blessed to be his wife and watch him operate in this Biblical Truth his whole life.

Jesus spoke this into being and we know it as The Golden Rule. Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12) And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. (Luke 6:31)

Peter had heard Jesus speak these Words but it was not until the Lord gave him the Vision and the Message that he fully understood their meaning. The world is still learning this Biblical Truth. Few live by it on a daily basis. Pray about this and let the Lord speak to your heart on this subject and remember, you are not better than anyone else and no one is better than you.

The Golden Rule will…...….turn the tide……….in this evil world.
