The Holy Spirit

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all Truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Jesus told His followers what was going to happen to Him and that the Holy Spirit would be coming to take His place, so to speak. Jesus guided them and taught them all Truth. The Holy Spirit would now be the continuation of this Work. Just as Jesus ONLY spoke what His Father told Him to speak, the Holy Spirit will do so as well.

Because His followers were with Him personally, they could ask Him questions and He would answer. Jesus spoke to them in the natural because He was here on earth in the form of a human being. Jesus had a lot more to say to His followers but He was running out of time. He knew this, so He said,  I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all Truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore, I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:13-15)

When Jesus walked this earth as a man, He heard from God and that’s what He did. Jesus said, I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is Righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the Will of the Father who sent Me. (John 5:30) He also said, For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His Command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak. (John 12:49-50)

From these Scriptures it is apparent that Jesus heard directly from His Father in Heaven and did what the Father said to do. Given our sin nature, we cannot hear directly from the Father. We hear from the Holy Spirit who speaks to the hearts of believers in the spirit because He is a Spirit; the Holy Spirit of God. Read this Scripture one more time: I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

We are alive on this earth where we are for a specific purpose. Our life assignment comes from God the Father in Heaven. We are to fulfill our Father’s Purpose for our life and we do so by hearing from the Holy Spirit who is our Teacher, Counselor, Guide and Helper and then being obedient to His Voice.

It is the Holy Spirit of God who communicates to us what the Father wants us to know. He dwells inside us and is in constant communication with the Father on our behalf. Those people who believe in Jesus but discount the Work of the Holy Spirit are shunning and discarding the most powerful Benefit they have. What a pity!

Listen for the Voice of the Holy Spirit. It will……….turn the tide……..in your life.

Listening closely,        Doreen
