Matthew 18:4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
As we decrease in and of ourselves, we can begin to understand just how vast and magnificent God really is.
In the above Passage of Scripture, Jesus answered the Disciple’s question, Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?
In order to be great in the Kingdom of God, we must become small. This is a Biblical Truth that is very hard for many to understand. When we see ourselves as powerful and important, we are among the smallest, most insignificant ones in God’s Kingdom.
A small child knows their place in the family. They understand that they are not the mother, father, or grandparent. Nor are they the oldest sibling. The smallest child is the least in the family. They have the least ability and the least to say. In many cases, they are to be “seen and not heard.”
I can remember my mother telling me to “watch and listen, and you might learn something.” These are not easy words to hear. Everyone wants to speak their mind and have their opinion heard, but the head of the house is the boss and everyone else is to be obedient.
In the Kingdom of God, the Heavenly Father is the Head, and we are to be like little children in the Family. To be great in the Kingdom, we must decrease to the point of being the least. We are nothing without Him. When we sit back like an obedient little child, watch the Lord work and listen to His Word, THEN we will learn about God’s Kingdom.
