Genesis 39:3-6 And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had in the house and in the field. Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate.
Joseph had been sold into slavery for twenty pieces of silver. He was now the property of Potiphar, who was not a God-fearing man by any means, but he was smart. He saw that the Lord was with Joseph and he made him the overseer of everything he had.
The Lord blessed Potiphar because of Joseph and Potiphar knew it. Therefore, he gave Joseph more responsibility and trusted him even more. Joseph was a slave and yet Potiphar trusted him. Joseph did not know what the future held. His situation was pretty bad but he remained faithful to trust God through it all.
Joseph started out as the favorite son and heir to the birthright. The Lord was with him. His own brothers hated him and threw him in the pit. The Lord was with him. They sold him into slavery. The Lord was with him. Joseph, as a slave, served his master (Potiphar) well. The Lord was with him. Potiphar prospered because of Joseph. The Lord was with him.
As we read on in the story we will see that things get much worse for Joseph but he never turned his back on God. The Lord was with him. He never quit. The Lord was with him. He remained faithful because he knew the Lord was with him.
As believers it’s easy to fail to trust God in the hard times. The Lord is with us. It’s not always easy. The Lord is with us. When everything seems to be getting worse by the day, the Lord is with us.
When we are willing to accept our place in life, be grateful to God for what we have and trust Him for more, He will see us through. It may take a long time, but God promises to never leave us or forsake us. He promises to always be with us.
Give God praise today…..The Lord is with you!
The Lord God Almighty can……..turn the tide
