The Sin Of Unbelief

Jude 5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the Land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them who believed not.

Yesterday, we initiated a discussion on the short Book of Jude, which warns believers of “filthy dreamers” in their midst. The Church has always been attacked by such people. Jude makes several comparisons in an attempt to cause the reader to understand the gravity of this offense.

In the first few Verses of his Book, Jude gives the warning of those people who would use the Church as a cover for their lewd behavior. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the Grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 4)

To make sure the reader of his book would understand, Jude went on to say, I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the Land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them who believed not. In today’s language, we would say: Remember what happened to the Israelites in the wilderness who did not believe? Their sin was unbelief, and it destroyed them. It will do the same today.

God does not change. He has never tolerated unbelief, and He will not tolerate it today. Fear, doubt, and unbelief are the attacks of the enemy. It is sin. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

All God asks is for us to believe in Him and the Sacrifice of His Son on the Cross. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the Gift of God, (Ephesians 2:8)

To live for God is to be led by the Spirit and walk every day with our faith placed solely in the Cross of Christ. Faith in anything else is unbelief, which is sin. God is our everything. When we have Him, we need nothing else. All He asks is that we believe.

In John 3:18, Jesus said, He who believes on Him is not condemned: but he who believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the Only Begotten Son of God.

Belief in the Lord Jesus Christ will……..turn the tide
