Thy Will Be Done

Luke 22:42 Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.

Yesterday, we discussed the fact that we are all born with a Divine Assignment. God has a specific purpose for each and every person created. Unfortunately, most people never come to this understanding, so they live their lives without a clear path or direction.

Jesus knew His Divine Assignment. He was born to die on the Cross. He had much to do along the way, which He did with perfection. To perform Miracles, Signs, and Wonders as well as Teaching was His Ministry while He lived on earth as a man.

Jesus never failed to do the Work He was assigned to do. He never took His Eyes off the Father’s Plan for His Life. His life was not an easy Life. He was born in poverty. He never possessed anything of material value. He never owned a home or had a family. By human standards, Jesus was a poor man, but He was not a poor Man, He was the Only Begotten Son of God with the most important Divine Assignment ever given by the Heavenly Father!

Jesus knew the time was coming for His Divine Assignment to be fulfilled. There was a great purpose for His Assignment, and He knew it. Although He told them, His followers did not understand until after He had completed His Assignment.

We all go through times of great hardship, and we pray for God to take it from us. No one wants to suffer in this life, but suffer we must. It is necessary for us to go through storms so we may see the Hand of God on our lives when the storm has passed. These times are not easy and they cause us great pain, but if we can follow the example Jesus set for us and pray, “nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”  we will be able to look back on the experience as part of God’s Divine Assignment for us and see it all as a blessing from the Lord.

God’s plan for us is not intended to bring us harm but a hopeful future. The Prophet Jeremiah speaks of the 29th Chapter of his Book.

Let us seek God’s Divine Assignment for our lives and know that we know, that His Assignment is filled with the hope of a wonderful future. Therefore, let us pray as Jesus prayed, “nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”

Only God can…..…..turn the tide

Nevertheless, Thy Will be done,      Doreen
