Total Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6-8 Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

The other day, we discussed God’s Pasture of Plenty, which is where we find all the Benefits in the Believer’s Benefit Package. Within the fences of God’s Pasture, He will provide all our needs. And my God will supply every need of yours according to His Riches in Glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Have you ever seen a cow or horse with their head through the fence in search of greener grass, even though they are standing in tall, lush grass in the pasture where they live? These animals will lean on a fence until it breaks, trying to get to new grass. Other rebellious animals will just knock down any fence that stands in their way. No matter how good their circumstances are, they want out.

Unfortunately, this is the condition of many Christians. They have entered through the Gate named Jesus, but they never find contentment in His Pasture of Plenty. They continually have their heads through the fence in search of something more when everything they need is right under their feet.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the Will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15-17)

Believers need to learn to be satisfied with what the Lord has provided in His Pasture of Plenty and stop looking through the fence. Everything out there is representative of the world, which we all know is controlled by the devil.

I beseech you today.....get away from the fence! Stop looking for something more when you have everything you need in God’s Pasture of Plenty. Be content with what you have. If the Lord wants you to have more, He will provide it for you.

Jesus spoke some extremely powerful Words on this subject. Read them and take them to heart. When you do, you will find it easier to keep your head out of the fence.

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."  (Matthew 6:25-34)

Being content in the Pasture will….....turn the tide ….....in your life.
