Turn Back To The Cross

Revelation 3:6 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Jesus’ Words in His letter to the church in Sardis were not long but extremely important. It holds many truths that are pertinent to us today. Therefore, it’s necessary to review this letter and take it to heart.

And to the Angel of the church in Sardis write, These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His Angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Revelation 3:1-6)

This letter is written to the Pastor of the church because the Pastor is the overseer of that congregation. The name of their church indicated that they were alive but in reality, they were spiritually dead. The Spirit of God was not present. Any work without the Spirit of God is worthless in the eyes of God.

The majority of the people had turned from their faith in Jesus Christ and His Finished Work on the Cross and were spiritually dead. The rest of them were about to die too but in the letter, Jesus warned them about this and gave them an opportunity to repent but they must hold fast to their faith in Christ.

Jesus reminds them that He is coming back but they do not know when and there will be no warning of His return. At that time, those who are spiritually dead and have defiled their garments, their names will be blotted out of the Book of Life. They will have lost their Salvation.

The few that have not turned from their faith will be with Jesus wearing their white robes. Their names will remain in the Lamb’s Book of Life and they will return with Jesus at the Second Coming of Christ. They will rule with Him during the 1,000 year Millennium also known as the Kingdom Age.

My friends, this is very important because unfortunately, most of the churches in the world today are like the church in Sardis. Their name may indicate life, but they are spiritually dead. The Spirit of God is nowhere to be found. There is no supernatural Work of God seen there.

God wants to do supernatural Miracles in your life and in your church. When we hold fast to our faith in Christ and His Finished Work on the Cross of Calvary, we will see mighty moves of the Spirit of God. God can, and will, resurrect a dead church if they will repent and turn back to Him placing their faith in Christ and Him Crucified. It was on the Cross that Jesus won the Victory over sin and the power of Satan. His Victory is the only way for us to have life; abundant life now and eternal life with Him in Heaven.
