Twenty-Two Years

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans not to harm you but give you a future and a hope.

As this day rolls around each year, I can’t help but remember the day twenty-two years ago when my life was changed forever. It was the hardest day of my life, but as I look back, I can clearly see that God did not wish to harm me, but to give me a future and a hope.

The moment I saw my husband, Jack, buried under the heavy weight of the iron cattle chute, I knew he was gone. Our retirement plans together on our recently acquired cattle ranch in Caney, OK would not come to pass. Everything would now be different; very, very different.

I never blamed God or asked Him why this had to happen to me. However, I did ask Him, “What now, God?” It didn’t take Him long to answer my question. Within two weeks of Jack’s death, God revealed to me His Plan for my future.

While sitting on the airplane on my way back to Oklahoma from Jack’s memorial service in California, He spoke to my spirit and said, “I have something for you to do that does not involve Jack. It is something I have been preparing you to do your whole life.”  Somehow, through my tears, the grief and sadness turned to excitement over what God had planned for me.

Now, twenty-two years later, as I watch the Holy Spirit of God work in miraculous ways in the hearts of so many people here in Caney, I am blessed beyond words. Literally thousands of people have come here over the years in search of a special touch from God. To sit in His Presence, hear His Voice and seek His Plan for their life. They come to feel the Peace that passes understanding and find the Rest only found at the Feet of Jesus. Truly, what more could I ask for?

God’s plan for your life might not be your plan, but trust me, He knows the plans he has for you, plans not to harm you, but to give you a future and a hope. Trust Him and you will never be disappointed. As the old song goes, Look what the Lord has done!

Only God can…...…
